FAQs

Gestational Surrogacy

Gestational Surrogacy is the most commonly practiced. In this process the Surrogate becomes pregnant through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The Surrogate will receive the fertilized egg(s) through a painless Embryo Transfer (ET). The GS has no genetic relationship to the baby(s).

Medical Screening

The potential Surrogate/partner will have to be medically screened. We perform this screening locally with a Reproductive Endocrinologist. The screening will consist of a gynecological exam for the potential Surrogate and blood work for potential Surrogate/partner. The Reproductive Endocrinologist  will determine if other tests will be required. There are no costs to the potential Surrogate.

Psychological Screening

The potential Surrogate/partner will be psychologically screened by a licensed psychologist that has practiced Reproductive Psychological Counseling for over 17 years. The screening will involve a discussion regarding the feelings of Surrogacy and any concerns there may be.The potential Surrogate/partner will then complete a Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) that will take approximately an hour to complete. There are no costs to the potential Surrogate.

Attorney Consultation

The potential Surrogate/partner will meet their appointed attorney for a  1 hr consultation prior to being matched with Intended Parents. There are no costs to the potential Surrogate.

Payments

The contract between the Surrogate and the Intended Parents safeguards that the Surrogacy is at no cost to the Surrogate. GGSCNW requires that the Intended Parents deposit funds within 72 hrs of their contract being signed.

The Surrogate’s Fee will be dispersed over the course of the pregnancy.  The remainder of any compensation will be paid within 2 weeks of delivery. Monthly compensation varies and will be explained further in the Surrogates Benefit Package.

Travel

If potential Surrogate does not live within 200 miles roundtrip of Portland Oregon she will have to travel for the initial screening process, Match Meeting and possibly the Embryo Transfer if the Intended Parents (IPs) do not live locally. There is no cost to the potential Surrogate. GGSCNW will make your travel arrangements. Travel ranges from 2-4 days.

Surrogates

We receive most of our Surrogate applications from Oregon Surrogates because of how open the state is to Surrogacy. However, if the Surrogate lives in a Surrogate friendly state we would be more than happy to work with you. Please see our resource page for a link regarding surrogacy laws across the United States.
